An intriguing and ever popular folding masonic ball.
Made from solid 9 carat gold with gilded sterling silver interior, the craftsmanship is superb - with flush-fitting hinges, each section interlocks and is held by a cross-shaped arm with hand engraved edging. When opened, six minuscule interlocking pyramids unfold to reveal each of their faces hand engraved with enigmatic masonic symbols!
It dates from around the 1980's, is stamped 'Made in England', '9ct & Sil' to warrant the precious metal content, and is 15 mm in diameter. It weighs 7.3 grams and is in fabulous original condition. When opened the cross symbol extends 26mm to 42mm.
We can see evidence of the makers J.H.W although we cannot determine conclusively who there makers were!
