The chain features graduated faceted roller links, increasing from approximately 5mm to 7mm towards the centre. Each roller has been individually cut with multiple polished facets, creating an almost hammered or nugget-like finish that catches the light beautifully. These decorative rollers alternate with classic rounded links, giving the chain a wonderfully distinctive appearance that sets it apart from the more traditional curb-link Alberts we see so often.
Even better, the links are individually stamped, something we absolutely love to see on antique Albert chains. The repeated stamps running along the chain are a wonderful reminder of the quality and attention to detail that went into its construction.
Measuring approximately 15 inches in length, the chain is finished with fantastic antique hardware, including a 34mm T-bar, a substantial dog clip and a bolt ring. Both the dog clip and T-bar bear the EFC Makers Mark. We have researched EFC and found documented Birmingham examples of the mark, including its appearance on a watch-chain T-bar, although the identity of the Maker behind the initials appears to remain unconfirmed.
We also have additional antique links which can be included for hanging pendants, fobs or charms, allowing you to really make this chain your own. For those who would prefer a little more length, it can also be extended using an additional antique swivel, giving even more versatility to an already fabulous piece.
At 33.7 grams, this has a wonderful substantial feel without being overwhelmingly heavy. The graduation is particularly effective when worn as a necklace, drawing the eye towards those larger faceted central links and giving the chain a beautifully balanced appearance.
