The JUSTE UN CLOU collection, meaning Just a Nail in French, was originally conceived in 1971 by designer Aldo Cipullo in New York. Inspired by the humble nail, Cipullo reimagined an ordinary piece of hardware as a striking piece of jewellery, creating a design that challenged traditional ideas of luxury. Originally introduced as the Nail Bracelet, the design was later relaunched by Cartier under the JUSTE UN CLOU name and has become one of their most celebrated collections.
This particular bracelet has a beautifully polished surface that follows the distinctive curved silhouette of a nail, with the sculpted nail head and pointed tip forming the unmistakable design. The smooth, rounded profile gives the bracelet a substantial yet elegant appearance, while the yellow gold enhances its sculptural lines.
It weighs an impressive 33 grams and has a reassuringly substantial feel. Measuring approximately 3.5mm in width, it is a striking piece without being overly heavy in appearance. The bracelet is a Cartier size 17, designed to sit elegantly around the wrist. One of the defining features of the Classic JUSTE UN CLOU bracelet is its clever opening mechanism, which is beautifully integrated into the nail-inspired design. The bracelet opens discreetly, allowing it to retain its clean, uninterrupted silhouette when worn.
The interior is engraved with the Cartier signature, 750 gold fineness mark, copyright symbol and individual serial number, alongside the Cartier hallmark. These details are an important part of the bracelet's identity and craftsmanship.
This is a truly iconic piece of designer jewellery and will always be a timeless addition to any luxury jewellery collection and a piece that will never go out of fashion.
