Crafted in rich 18ct Yellow Gold, the chain weighs a very respectable 24.3 grams and measures approximately 15 inches in length. The uniformed links measure around 3.5mm in width, giving the piece a finer, more delicate appearance than many of the heavier Alberts we source, while still retaining that unmistakable substance and quality of Victorian gold. The craftsmanship is gorgeous. Each individual link is stamped, something we always love to see on a genuine antique Albert and a wonderful testament to the attention to detail that went into its construction.

It retains an absolutely fabulous collection of traditional Albert fittings, including two beautifully shaped swivels, a T-bar and a substantial bolt ring. Having all of these elements together gives the chain so much character and it also makes it wonderfully versatile. The T-bar looks fantastic worn prominently at the front, while the bolt ring and swivels offer plenty of opportunity for adding an antique fob, pendant, charm or medal. Even better, the fittings bear the maker's mark J.G&S for John Grinsell & Sons, a highly regarded Birmingham maker whose history stretches back into the 19th century. It is exactly the sort of maker's detail that elevates an already beautiful antique chain.

Despite being around 140 years old, this Albert remains in excellent condition and has a wonderful warm antique gold colour. It has all the character of a traditional Victorian Albert without being overly heavy or chunky, perfect for someone wanting an authentic antique gold chain with a slightly more refined look.
