This medal has a beautifully elaborate shield-shaped form, measuring approximately 37mm by 22mm, excluding the bail. Its sweeping outer edges frame an exceptionally detailed central panel, filled with scrolling foliate engraving, textured backgrounds and elegant flourishes. The craftsmanship is fabulous, with the different polished and engraved surfaces catching the light beautifully.

One side features a raised central cartouche which appears to carry an old, lightly worn monogram – a lovely reminder that this was once a treasured personal possession. The reverse is equally decorative and bears a shield engraved “T.U.C.C., Chapel Town League, 1912”, giving the fob a tangible connection to its original history rather than simply being an anonymous antique jewel.

The piece carries the J.W.T Makers Mark for James Walter Tiptaft, a Birmingham maker associated with the renowned firm J. W. Tiptaft & Son, alongside its clear British 9ct Gold hallmarks for Birmingham 1912.

The gold has developed a gorgeous soft antique hue, with subtle variations in tone created by more than a century of age. This makes it especially versatile alongside both antique Yellow and Rose Gold, and it would look fabulous suspended from an Albert chain, worn as a pendant or added to a curated collection of antique fobs.
