The chain is formed from uniformed 4.2mm curb links that have a lovely, flattened profile which catch the light beautifully and give the chain more presence than its weight might suggest. It is substantial enough to wear alone yet refined enough for everyday wear or layering with other antique and vintage chains.
One end is finished with a traditional swivel clasp, a wonderful original-style feature that can also be used to suspend a favourite fob, pendant, medal or charm. At the opposite end sits the 26mm T-bar, giving the chain that instantly recognisable Albert character. The T-bar has a particularly attractive shaped design rather than a completely plain straight bar, adding a lovely decorative touch. This one would look fabulous worn simply with the T-bar positioned at the front, allowing it to become part of the design rather than merely a fastening. Alternatively, the swivel provides the perfect place to add an antique fob or pendant and create an entirely individual piece.
The 19-inch length is another real advantage. Many traditional Albert chains are considerably shorter, having originally been designed to sit across a gentleman's waistcoat. This longer example translates particularly well into a modern necklace and should sit comfortably around the neckline without needing an extender. This Albert weighs 11.6 grams and is an extremely easy piece to wear.
