18ct Gold Etruscan Amethyst & Pearl Crown Fob Charm Pendant (Higher Resolution Photos)
From the Etruscan Revival period comes this most beautiful Amethyst & Pearl Crown fob pendant. Inspired by the trove of treasures that archaeologist discovered centuries ago in Pompeii and Herculaneum dating back to as early as the 2nd Century, this Venetian made charm was probably produced in the late 1880s.
The gold surfaces are enhanced with twisted wire, rosettes and beading and the five oval amethysts have very attractive medium violet colouring. It's really not surprising that the ancient discoveries captured the imagine of the people and here we present a 140 year old replica!
The larger amethyst at the bottom of the crown has visible feathers and one of the side amethysts has a small chip. The bail is stamped with Italian 18K gold hallmarks. Excluding the bail the fob pendant measures 30mm by 30mm.
The pendant hangs on a Fine Belcher Chain that measures 22 inches.
