Date 1985! 18ct Yellow Gold Albert Chain with T-Bar and Bolt Ring (Higher Resolution Photos)
An exceptional 18ct Yellow Gold Antique Albert Chain which is quite simply a superb example of its type.
The chain measures 15 inches in length and is formed from chunky 6.3mm uniformed curb links. Each link is individually stamped, a fabulous detail that immediately speaks to the quality of the piece. Despite its age and substantial weight, the links remain beautifully defined, and the overall condition is remarkably good.
The chain is finished with its traditional fittings, including a swivel clasp and impressive 40mm T-bar, both bearing the Makers Mark M&M. These marks date the Albert to approximately 1895–1925, placing this wonderful chain around the late Victorian to early 20th-century period. Alongside the T-bar is an additional bolt ring, perfect for suspending an antique fob, pendant or charm. This gives the chain enormous versatility: wear the T-bar alone as the focal point, add a treasured antique pendant, or build your own collection of charms and fobs over time.
At 71 grams, there is nothing lightweight about this Albert. It has that unmistakable feeling of old, substantial gold in the hand, yet the uniformed curb links give it a beautifully clean appearance when worn. The 15-inch length makes it particularly striking worn relatively close to the neck, either alone as a statement piece or layered amongst longer antique chains.
The bolt ring positioned beside the swivel does show some wear, which we have deliberately highlighted. If required, this could be replaced with an Antique 18ct Gold swivel, which would also have the benefit of adding a little extra length to the chain. We would be happy to discuss this option.
This is a magnificent piece of Antique Gold. It’s heavy, beautifully preserved and full of original character. For anyone looking for a serious 18ct Albert rather than simply an antique chain, this one really does tick the boxes.
