Heavyweight 9ct Rose Gold Graduated Antique Albert Chain (Higher Resolution Photos)
An exceptional heavyweight Antique Albert chain, this is exactly the sort of piece we get incredibly excited about.
The chain measures 16 inches long and features traditional graduated curb links, increasing beautifully from approximately 6mm at their narrowest to an impressive 9.5mm at the widest point. This pronounced graduation gives the chain its fabulous presence around the neck, with the heavier links naturally drawing the eye towards the centre.
Even better, the links are individually stamped, a wonderful detail that immediately speaks to the quality and character of the piece. Rather than simply relying on a single hallmark to the clasp, the repeated marks can be seen throughout the chain, this is exactly the sort of detail we love to find on a substantial antique Albert.
This chain retains two substantial swivel clasps, giving it the classic double Albert configuration, together with a magnificent 45mm T-bar. The oversized T-bar looks incredible worn at the front and gives the chain that unmistakable antique Albert aesthetic. It can also be used to suspend a favourite antique fob or pendant, while the swivels provide further possibilities for adding charms or other pieces.
The T-bar and swivels are stamped CDB for Charles Daniel Broughton, adding another layer of interest and provenance to an already exceptional chain.
Weighing an impressive 70.1 grams of 9ct gold, it combines substantial graduated links, beautiful antique craftsmanship and some truly fabulous original hardware. The 16-inch length makes it wonderfully wearable as a necklace today. It sits higher around the neckline, allowing those chunky graduated links and fabulous T-bar to become the focus. Worn alone, it makes a phenomenal statement; layered with finer antique chains, it becomes the anchor of an entire neck stack.
