A truly gorgeous Antique 15ct Yellow Gold Guard Chain that has been beautifully crafted with intricate fancy twisted rope and trace-style links interspersed with elegant, elongated double-bar sections.
The detailing throughout is exceptional, giving the chain wonderful texture and character while retaining a delicate, refined appearance. Measuring an impressive 38 inches in length and weighing 26.9 grams, this is a wonderfully versatile antique chain. It can be worn at its full length for a classic long guard-chain look or wrapped twice around the neck to create a shorter, beautifully layered necklace.
The links measures 2.5mm in width and are fine enough to remain elegant while the substantial gold weight gives the piece a lovely quality and presence. One of our favourite details is the fabulous double-ended dog clip fastening, also known as a figure-of-eight style clasp. Not only is it a beautiful original feature, but it also makes the chain incredibly versatile. Wear the dog clip prominently at the front as part of the design, or use it to attach a favourite antique locket, pendant, fob or charm.
The rich colour of the 15ct Gold is particularly beautiful. As 15ct Gold was a historic British gold standard that is no longer used for newly manufactured UK jewellery, it is a metal purity we particularly love finding in genuine antique pieces.
