This is an exceptional example of an Antique 18ct Yellow Gold Albert Chain. It possesses everything collectors seek in a high-quality Albert. Beautifully preserved and remarkably complete, it retains all of its original fittings, including the swivel clasp, bolt ring, T-bar and the original extension links used for attaching fobs, medals and other treasured accessories.
Crafted in rich 18ct Gold and weighing an impressive 36.5 grams, the chain is formed from substantial uniformed 5mm curb links, with every single link individually stamped. Collectors place enormous importance on this detail, as fully stamped links are a hallmark of quality construction and authenticity. Albert chains were traditionally fitted with a T-bar, swivel and watch attachment, originally designed to secure a gentleman's pocket watch whilst also displaying personal fobs and medals.
The chain is fitted with a handsome 34mm T-bar carrying the maker's mark EK, whilst the original swivel bears the maker's mark R & P. The bolt ring is also stamped, demonstrating the remarkable attention to detail throughout. Finding an Albert chain where every major component remains original is increasingly uncommon, particularly in high-carat gold.
What makes this example especially appealing is the inclusion of the original extension links, which remain with the chain and are pictured. These additional links were traditionally used to suspend seals, medals, sovereign holders and other decorative accessories, adding both functionality and character to the piece. Original surviving accessories such as these are highly sought after by collectors today.
The rich colour of antique 18ct Gold is simply superb. It possesses a depth and warmth that modern gold rarely achieves, giving the chain wonderful presence whether worn traditionally or styled as a contemporary necklace. The substantial weight, original fittings and fully stamped construction combine to create a piece that feels
