This brooch is a marriage between the typical celestial Victorian designs that we are all familiar with and a military style brooch.
The central star feature comprises an old cut diamond weighing approximately 0.35ct. Further old cut diamonds are set around lending to the star design that has a blue enamel border. This is surrounded by a circular seed pearl border suspended on a gold bar which resembles a ribbon. The entire brooch is bordered with a deep blue enamel.
The age of the brooch is reflected in its condition and although we would consider the condition to be fair it certainly shows signs of use. This is most evident in the enamel which as you can see from the pictures, is scarce in many places.
The brooch spans 5cm and is 2.5cm wide at its widest point. It weighs 12.8grams and tests as 15ct gold although there are no markings.
